Melanie Dobson is the award-winning author of The Black Cloister; Love Finds You in Liberty, Indiana; and Together for Good.

Prior to launching Dobson Media Group in 1999, Melanie was the corporate publicity manager at Focus on the Family where she was responsible for the publicity of events, products, films, and TV specials. Melanie received her undergraduate degree in journalism from Liberty University and her master's degree in communication from Regent University. She has worked in the fields of publicity and journalism for fifteen years including two years as a publicist for The Family Channel.

Melanie and her husband, Jon, met in Colorado Springs in 1997 at Vanguard Church. Jon works in the field of computer animation. Since they've been married, the Dobsons have relocated numerous times including stints in Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Colorado, Berlin, and Southern California. These days they are enjoying their new home in the Pacific Northwest.

Jon and Melanie have adopted their two daughters —Karly (6) and Kinzel (5). When Melanie isn't writing or entertaining their girls, she enjoys exploring ghost towns and dusty back roads, traveling, hiking, line dancing, and reading inspirational fiction.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this novel! ...the intricately-threaded plot that built to a final portrait of breathtaking details, heroic endearing characters and villainous ones too – and inter-woven throughout it all - individual stories of forgiveness, compassion and hope.

Although I was challenged to keep the various characters sorted out, in the end they all proved necessary to the story. Melanie Dobson’s writing style is excellent. This book went from interesting in its first few chapters to impossible to put down as I continued to read. This mystery novel was perfect vacation reading although I missed out on building a sand castle because I didn’t want to set it aside. ;)

FROM CARLA:
I grew up in the Texas Panhandle with two younger sisters and loving parents. Small town school. Great neighbors. Today, those small-town, fundamental things resonate within me -- the twang in people's voices, the art of being neighborly and just being a decent human being.

Growing up, I preferred the company of books over TV and playing outdoors. I imagined myself in many different careers, but given my down-to-earth raising, I settled on nursing. I didn't faint at the sight of blood and did well in science, so it seemed a natural choice.

I worked as a registered nurse off and on through the years, but primarily I stayed home with my four rambunctious boys and dreamed of the day when I could write the novels I loved to read. When our youngest son was in high school, I quit my job as a nursing instructor and settled in to pen my first novel. It's been quite a journey. One I wouldn't trade for anything.

I'm committed to writing the stories of my heart and am truly thankful to Jesus, my Savior, for allowing me this freedom. May all the glory be His.

If you haven't guessed by now, the books I write are set in the country. I believe my most dedicated readers will be those who live in the country, those who have moved from the country and still hold it in their hearts, or those who have never lived there but long for the simple life it offers. Because of this, I've chosen Country at Heart as my writing brand, which is also the title of my Blog.

I began my first book when I was in high school. In college I studied English literature and journalism. Then came marriage, kids . . . life. During that time, I piddled with my writing but didn't take it seriously until 2002 when I joined a local writer's group and American Christian Fiction Writers. I also joined a critique group, took online writing workshops, read writing book how-to's and attended writer's conferences. Now I have an agent, Rachelle Gardner, at WordServe Literary and have been contracted with Zondervan for a three-book contemporary romance series.

The Seasons of the Tallgrass series captures the spirit and dreams of ordinary people living in the Flint Hills of Kansas--one of the last tallgrass prairie regions in the world.

The first book, Snow Melts in Spring, is available in stores now. Seeds of Summer released May 2010.

BACK COVER REVIEW 
This book proved to me - there is a reason that Brandilyn Collins is a best-selling author! ...and my best friend Tanja's favorite writer! Chet tried reading the Kanner Lake Series and didn't really like the super-natural element. Tanja however can't get enough of it.

Well I think this book is heart-punching adrenaline-addicting stuff! Her writing and plotline is excellent too. The main character's addiction to Jelly Belly's was a little much at first (although I DO love Jelly Bellys), but that tapers off and its trivial stuff in the whole scheme of a wild, well-crafted plot.

...The first several chapters, I wasn’t sure if I was going to really be interested in the book. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with the writing, in fact it is excellent – it just included technical and very necessary backstory/setup information…info. that raised questions like it was supposed to.

...Wow, the style of this is very different from Dinner with a Perfect Stranger, A Day with a Perfect Stranger, not to mention The Next Level, but no less compelling. Something…the style or theme reminded me of Michael Creighton at first. I was also a little confused in the opening couple of chapters when there was a change of time or place, but after that they were well-marked.

...This is an amazing story in a genre all its own. It didn’t take long for me to not want to put it down. His view of our faith in Christ is completely Bible-based and yet, it presented a paradigm shift that I’m still working to get a handle on…and like his strong, authentic characters - it may take me a little while. I like, no LOVE, books like this – books that force me to think and deepen my relationship with Jesus. His plot also kept me guessing until the last page and that is just pure writing brilliance!
